FAQs
Yes, our concealed carry class meets all the requirements to apply for your Colorado CHP.
Anyone applying for their CHP on or after July 1st 2025 will be subject to the new training requirements. We will likely transition to teaching the new requirements starting in March due to the backlog of application appointments many sheriff’s offices are facing. HB24-1174 requires a total of 8 hours of instruction including a minimum of 50 rounds on the range.
For now, please bring your drivers license. We have everything else needed in terms of class materials. We will up this section accordingly as we transition to the new classes
Our current CHP class lasts around 3.5 hours, but can depend on class interaction.
Please do not bring any firearms (loaded or unloaded) into the classroom. If there is range time provided after (starting in March), then specific carry instructions will be provided in your confirmation email.

Please send an email to info@gormft.com with your full name, phone number, address, email address used to register for class, and the date you completed the class. We will get a replacement certificate sent out to you for a cost of $19.
We will cover all of this in class, but the process is fairly simple and requires you to take a CHP class and then going through the application process through your local County Sheriff department.
Once you complete your application appointment with your local sheriff’s office, they have no longer than 90 days to complete the background check and get the permit back in your hands.
All training certificates received under the current training requirements will expire on June 30th. Under HB24-1174, certificates of completion will be valid for 1 year
5 years. 6 months prior to the expiration date, you are eligible to take a renewal course, and 4 months prior to expiration you can actually apply for your renewal.
